Abdominal Etching Guide
Introduction to Abdominal Etching (Abdominal Augmentation, Abdominoplasty)
Almost all men at some point in their lives have dreamed of having strong muscular arms, a bulging chest with a wash board ab section sitting underneath.
There are countless diet plans, exercise programs to follow, sit up and crunch gadgets on the market, all with the same promise of making the journey to flat, model stomach easier and quicker.
Abdominal augmentation isn't to be confused with a mini tummy tuck. Tummy tuck surgery is a different type of procedure altogether, during a tummy tuck fat and skin are removed from the abdominal area. Abdominal etching is the process of removing just the fat to help define and sculpt the midsection, this procedure is also known as abdominal liposuction.
Is Exercise Not Enough for a Chiseled Midsection?
However, despite many hours of exercise and calorie counting day after day, week after week, even some of the most toned and athletic men still have trouble removing that last layer of fat from their midsection.
All the grueling hours in the gym on the ab crunch machine, all the salad and whey protein won't mean a thing unless you can remove that thin layer of stubborn fat that's hiding your abdominal muscles.
So how can men remove the last stubborn layer of fat and show off their abs after all their hard work?
Do Cosmetic Surgeons have an Answer with Abdominal Augmentation?
In a new procedure called Abdominoplasty, a skilled surgeon removes stubborn fat deposits around the abdominal muscle themselves.
Concentrating on the abdomen, liposuction is used to remove the fatty cells.
This is different to a mini tummy tuck that is often performed on women.
This 'etching' is great for the men who've worked hard in the gym to achieve a flat stomach, now they can show off the results of their efforts and display a washboard six pack they can be proud of.
Patient Criteria for Abdominal Etching
Ideally candidates for Abdominal Etching (Abdominoplasty) should already be in good shape with only a small amount of fat covering the abdominal area. The contours of the abdominals should be noticeable and the patient should be on a proper exercise and diet plan.
Abdominal Etching - The Procedure
The abdomen liposcuction procedure is carried out under an general anesthetic and will take around an hour. Using the liposuction technique, and the patients abdominal muscles as a guide, the surgeon carefully removes areas of fat (etching) to give the stomach area a natural more defined look.
Aftercare and Recovery
After the Abdominal Etching procedure is complete a compression bandage will be applied to the area which will be worn at all times for 3-6 weeks.
Post surgery there will be some pain and swelling. This is to be expected and nothing to worry about as long as you follow the care plan laid out to you by your cosmetic surgeon.
Always follow the aftercare advice and guides given to you by your surgeon to help make sure your recovery is as quick and comfortable as possible.
